From 2006 to 2008, I worked at a local formal wear store, Allens Tuxedos, as an warehouse associate. Decent wage, friendly co-workers, during High School Prom I even got a pretty good discount for the suit I rented. By the recession came along, all the part time workers lost their hours, myself included. Between February 2008 and last week, it was a pain in the ass finding another job. I applied to so many businesses, I've lost count. As time passed, I felt less confident because I had a feeling that I wasn't being hired because of my long-term period of unemployment. I explained to the hiring manager that I've been attending community college and that economic times were tough, but they didn't seem to be concerned with that at all.
TL;DR - I got laid off after working for 2 years. I filled out hundreds of job applications for a year and a half, I got few responses but was never hired.
Last Saturday, I stopped by Allens Tuxedos to rent a suit as part of a costume I'm planning on wearing at a friend's Halloween Party (I'm dressing up as an undertaker). One of my old "full-time" co-workers recognized me and was happy to see me *insert small talk* . She said that orders for weddings were starting to pile up (apparently people like to marry in the Fall as well as the Summer) and they needed somebody in the warehouse to help out. I showed that I was interested, so she put in a good word with the manager, who had remembered me as good worker before I was laid off, and said "when can you start?"
TL;DR - I got my job back; a lot more hours, but at least I'll be earning more than the last time I was there!

Now comes the part where I want to get used to drawing with it. The day where I draw one of my characters with it will soon come, but for now, I'll show you my first attempt with a Wacom.

While I'll post some of my art over there, you can check out the rest of my stuff (sketches, doodles) either on deviantART or the Newgrounds Art Forum. Whichever you prefer.
And now, here's a demon lady in a dress X)
